The Seventh International Piano Competition

 “Banjaluka Biennale 2020

BANJALUKA, 14 – 17 MAY 2020

The Seventh International Piano Competition “Banjaluka Biennale 2020” will be held in the Concert Hall of Banski Dvor and in the Concert Hall of Music School “Vlado Milosevic” in Banjaluka from 14 to 17 May 2020. The competition will be held in two disciplines piano solo and piano duo (for 4 or 6 hands and 2 pianos), and piano for High School students and student of Music Academy (Music Theory Department).

(Any program changes could be made until 4 May 2020)


Article 1

The competition is organized by Muzicka Skola „Vlado Milosevic“, Banjaluka.

Article  2

The competition is organized biannually in even numbers of years.

Article  3

The Competition has an international character.

Article  4

Participants of the Competition are judged by the jury composed of eminent piano performers and educators.

Article 5

Participants are due to fill in the application form and pay for the registration fee until the date given by the organizer.

Article 6

In case of cancellation of participation in the competition, the amount of competition registration fee will not be returned to the candidate.

Article 7

Competitors pay for their travel and accommodation costs themselves.

Article 8

The organizer will provide cash prizes to the winners of the following categories:

Piano solo: 4th,5th,6th and 7th  category

Piano duo: 4th,5th and 6th category

The most promising young pianist “Nevena Popovic” reward

Article 9

If there are no more than 10 competitors in any competition category, the organizer will not pay a cash prize.

Article 10

There can only be one category winner in a category. If two or more candidates have the same number of points, the winner of the category shall be declared the candidate who is younger.

Article 11

Participants in the discipline piano solo perform the program by heart, and in the discipline piano duo notes can be used in all categories. In the category piano practicum participants perform program by heart.

Article 12

Participant who exceeds the given time, can be stopped by a jury, and be judged by the given performance until the moment of stopping.

Article  13

Scoring: number of scores is an average number of scores given by the all members of the jury

  • I prize   95-100
  • II prize 85-94
  • III prize 75-84
  • Commendation 65-74

Article 14

Number of prizes is not limited.

Article 15

Decision of the jury is final and irrevocable.

Article  16

Each participant in every category gets a diploma and the candidates who score less than 75 points get commendation.

Together with the application for, candidates must enclose their birth certificate or a copy of the passport if they are foreign citizens, as well as the receipt of the paid registration fee.

On the payment slip should be written*:

-Name of the school or music academy (or the participant’s name and the place they come from)

* Note: Contestants from outside BiH must make a payment in BiH before the start of the category and submit a copy of the payment slip to the info desk.

Registration fee for the discipline piano solo:

  • 30 euros – pre-category, the first and the second category
  • 40 euros – the third, the fourth and the fifth category
  • 50 euros- the sixth , the seventh and the eight category

Registration fee for the discipline piano duo:

  • 25 euros per candidate- pre-category and the first category
  • 30 euros per candidate- the second, the third, the fourth, the fifth and the sixth category

Registration fee for piano practicum:

  • 30 euros for all categories
